Using our Google Map, in which you'll find public gardens and garden-related events, your group can use the itinerary below to visit just a few of the many gardens we have awaiting:
10:00 - 11:00 Nestled in 37 acres of countryside in Roseneath is Meadow View Gardens. While taking a walk through one of their many themed gardens, you'll want to make sure you visit their cascading hillside waterfall and koi pond. Beside the pond is a tented area where cream teas can be served to your group. Make sure you call ahead; it's just Garry and Julie at the helm.
11:10 - 12:00 It's a perfect time for a leisurely looped walk on the fully-accessible Universal Trail (Carstairs Tract) on Bowmanton Road in the Northumberland County Forest, where interpretive signage is placed along the way denoting special plantings.
12:30 - 1:30 Villa Conti at Oak Heights Estate Winery offers a lovely view overlooking the rolling hills as you eat an Italian-inspired lunch with just-picked garden edibles.
2:00 - 2:30 At the end of May and throughout June, the Warkworth Lilac Festival celebrates blossoms beyond their festival weekend. You will be introduced to over 70 types of lilacs as you meander down the Millennium Trail. Add another 45 minutes to your timing if you want to shop the lovely artisan village.
2:45 - 4:00 Schoolhouse Gardens has over 4 acres of themed gardens, and a vegetable and herb patch through which you can stroll.
If you're heading westbound for home, consider a stop at:
4:45 - 5:45 Laveanne Lavender Fields filled with over 80 varieties of lavender. Lavender-themed food events and shelves of lavender products are available for purchase. Make sure you call ahead as closing time is 5pm; they may make exceptions for your group. Also, best time to visit is in July for blossoms; harvesting is at the end of the month.
