Get Refreshed at Northumberland Beaches

We love a day at the beach! Keep reading for plenty of places to stay cool and have fun all summer long.

Beaches Nearby

Port Hope

Port Hope has a sandy beach with a playground and change rooms. Venture a little further down the beach and you’ll find spots to relax and enjoy some quiet time by the water.

Cobourg

Cobourg’s beach is very popular. A beautiful boardwalk takes you past the sandy beach and marina, right over to the Ecology Garden and the rocky West Beach. The main beach has a splash pad, playground and a canteen.

Lakeport

Wicklow Beach is a cool, quiet swimming spot in Lakeport, south of Grafton. With a pebble beach, hiking trails and a boat launch nearby, it’s a great rest stop on your day trip or the perfect place to spend the afternoon.

Cramahe Township

Little Lake, between Brighton and Colborne, features a small, sloped, grassy waterfront area leading to a pebble-based swimming spot. Bring some water shoes to fully enjoy this refreshing swimming spot – a hidden gem.

Brighton

Presqu’ile Provincial Park (fee for entry, passes to be booked in advance) is a great place to spend a day – or a few! Advanced booking of day passes is required through the summer months and can be made at Ontario Parks Reservations. Campsites can also be reserved here. Day passes can be booked 5 days in advance of your trip. The long, sandy beach is a family favourite destination.

Trent Hills

Crowe Bridge Park (fee for entry, passes to be booked in advance) is a lovely conservation area with cool swimming in the Trent River. Lion’s Park Beach in Campbellford includes a playground and a picnic shelter. There's also a small sandy beach area in Hastings, on the south side of Rice Lake.

Rice Lake

There are a few options for swimming in Rice Lake. The Bewdley Waterfront Park has swimming, playground equipment, public boat launches and docks. You can swim from Gores Landing public dock, but bring your water shoes here as it’s a pebble bottom area. In Roseneath, at 110 Sandy Bay Road, you’ll find a parkette with swings and a small, sandy beach for warm and shallow swimming.
