Horses are Welcome too

If you happen to be looking for a Bed and Bale (and dogs!) accommodation, Wishing Stone Farm Services lies to the east of the Ganaraska Forest. Bring your horses for a relaxing vacation with family or friends. Ride off of the property into the Ganaraska Forest for an all-day trail ride on their horseback riding trails. There are multiple areas for you to park your trailer and set up camp and there are pens and stalls available to accommodate your horses if you don’t have pens. They also have a lovely trailer for short-term rentals for you to sleep in comfort.

Get Active with your Furry Friend

Want to take your furry friend into nature? The Northumberland County Forest's hiking trails allow dogs on leash. Equine users are welcome too.

You can also take your dog for a run, to play ball or to meet some new friends at a number of off-leash dog parks in Northumberland County.

  • Cobourg's Dog Park on Ontario Street has a huge space with an open field and a shaded corner with towering pines.
  • Port Hope's Dog Park on Baulch Road is close to the 401 and also has a playground for kids so it's a great place to let the whole family stretch.
  • Brighton's Dog Park on County Road 64 provides a welcoming space for dogs with both a large dog and small dog area.
