Finding a Home Away from Home for your Pet

Your pet can have a vacation too. There are some nearby places for your four-pawed kiddies to stay while you take in an attraction or do some shopping in Northumberland County.

Here are a few options to let your pet enjoy a getaway.

  • Uberdog Ranch in Baltimore features a cage-free boarding home situated in our rolling hills.
  • Tucked Inn Kennels is directly north of Grafton offering premium suites.
  • All Pawz Inn, also in Colborne, where your dog has a private suite and community socialization
  • Goods Garden Cat Resort in Castleton is just for your feline friends. The owners are a vet and vet technician.

Get Active with your Furry Friend

Want to take your furry friend into nature? The Northumberland County Forest's hiking trails allow dogs on leash. Equine users are welcome too.

You can also take your dog for a run, to play ball or to meet some new friends at a number of off-leash dog parks in Northumberland County.

  • Port Hope's Dog Park on Baulch Road is close to the 401 and also has a playground for kids so it's a great place to let the whole family stretch.
  • Cobourg's Dog Park on Ontario Street has a huge space with an open field and a shaded corner with towering pines.
  • The Big Apple Dog Run Park in Colborne is located right off the 401 (exit 497) at the famous, giant-sized red apple. As well as being a popular family attraction (with mini putt, bakery, food trucks, restaurant, and candy shop), The Big Apple dog run nearby can be a great stop for getting your pup out for a bit of exercise and a bathroom break.
  • Brighton's Dog Park on County Road 64 provides a welcoming space for dogs with both a large dog and small dog area.
  • Ferris Provincial Park in Campbellford has one of the few fenced, off-leash dog parks located inside an Ontario Provincial Park. See the guidelines from Ontario Parks for bringing your dog to a Provincial Park.
