A Super Sweet Way to Spend the Day

Looking for a group tour that satisfies all the sweet cravings, all while touring through the lovely rolling hills of Northumberland County? This itinerary has it all with candied treats and chocolate galore and can be taken any time of the year. Call ahead to each location for group visits.

Day One

Times are suggestions only.

  • 10 am – Arrive in Cobourg and book into the Best Western. Call ahead to reserve at 1-866-262-6874.
  • 11 am – Snack at Arthur's Pub at the Best Western.
  • 11:30 am – Take County Rd 45 north to County Rd 22. Go East on County Rd. 22 to Castleton. Turn left (east) on County Rd 25 towards Warkworth.
  • 12:00 pm – Visit Centre and Main Chocolates in Warkworth. This is a small retail shop. Consider splitting large groups with half spending time shopping on the main street.
  • 1:30 pm – Stop for lunch at The Big Apple in Colborne. This popular tourist stop features a bright, clean, cafeteria-style restaurant, a bakery, a huge gift shop, and a 30 foot apple with stairs to climb inside. Contact at 905 355-2574.
  • 2:30 pm – Head south on County Rd 25 into the community of Colborne and then continue south to County Rd 31 into Lakeport. Take a beautiful drive along Lakeport Road, part of the Waterfront Trail, to capture lovely views of Lake Ontario. If you need a quicker route back to Cobourg, you can choose to get onto County Rd 2 right at Colborne and head west.
  • 3 pm – Stop into Grafton for a visit to the 1812 Heritage Building, which houses 3 quaint shops with books, cards, antiques and more.
  • 4:30 pm – Back to the Best Western in Cobourg for a rest. Those wishing to venture out can easily walk for 10 mins to the Northumberland Mall or take a leisurely walk through the Cobourg Conservation Area.
  • 6 pm – Enjoy dinner at the very popular Buttermilk Cafe for a good dose of comfort food. At Christmas time you can easily walk from this restaurant to the Christmas light display at Victoria Park.

Day Two
