Rice Lake is one of Ontario's largest and most productive inland fisheries. Part of the Trent-Severn Waterway, it still produces the most fish per acre of any lake in Ontario.
Rice Lake is the most fertile lake in Ontario for fish per acre according to the Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry (The Ministry).
It is very shallow (maximum 27 ft.), and about 37 km long (23 mi.) and 4.8 km (3 mi.) wide.
Weedbeds and mudflats are abundant.
Panfish fill these waters and provide food for the highly sought after predatory, larger fish.
Pro bass anglers favour Rice Lake, not only for the quantity of both large and smallmouth bass, but also for their large sizes.
Rice Lake has fish for all angling levels, from beginners to sportfishermen.
