Stop at Corbett's Dam or the nearby Fish Ladder to see where 8,000 spawning rainbow trout make the spring run upstream – or see spawning salmon jump in the fall. Standing on the bridge overlooking the Ganny (Ganaraska River) in historic Port Hope will bring lots of thrilling surprises. Peter's Woods Nature Reserve is Ontario's sole-surviving, Oak Ridges Moraine, "old growth" forest, dating back 4 centuries. The trail here measures .8 km (.5 mi.). It passes through an open field and circles the striking maple-beech forest.

Ready to pitch a tent? This provincial park has more than 150 campsites. Explore unspoiled acres of woods and river banks. You can also access the Ranney Gorge Suspension Bridge from the gates to the Park.

Get out and stretch along the Trans Canada Trail, the world’s longest network of multi-use recreational trails from coast to coast to coast. The Northumberland portion starts in Hastings along the Trent River and spans 34 km (21 mi.). It includes crossing the Ranney Gorge Suspension Bridge in Campbellford.

On the Ranney Gorge Suspension Bridge you can feel the thrill of being suspended high above a gorge on a metal bridge that, if you dare look down, lets you see the water flowing beneath you. Plus, view the sites of Campbellford nearby. This 93-m-long (300-ft.-long) suspension bridge is located along the Trans Canada Trail.
