Cobourg and Port Hope are home to me. I moved to Cobourg in grade 6 with my mom; and my dad, brother and sister lived in Port Hope. My family calls Port Hope home now, but almost all of our collective, immediate family lives between these two wonderful towns.
This is the most populous area in Northumberland. Hopping with tourism and cultural events, this area has great vistas of Lake Ontario, historic architecture, plus a vast and interesting food scene.

I spent a lot of my youth playing baseball and hockey in the Grafton, Colborne & Brighton areas. I was always intimidated. The kids seemed stronger. My guess is because they were helping out on the farm while me and my friends were working on mastering Mario Kart™. I get nostalgic when I drive through these areas now. But I’ve learned so much about the region in my adult years – and about strong farm families.

Father's Day has to start off perfectly and that means dad sleeps in while mom (and maybe some willing kids?) make him breakfast with market fresh eggs and bread from a local farmers' market. This is a fantastic time of year to shop for local food - Farmers' Markets are plentiful on Saturday mornings in Cobourg, Port Hope, Hastings, Codrington and Campbellford. Sunny side up with whole grain toast sounds like a great way to start the day.
