Green Spaces, Rolling Hills and Water Views

Get on your bike to experience Cobourg's magical heritage and appreciate Rice Lake views. This biking trail, an Ontario favourite, takes you on some of the celebrated Greenbelt Route. This route is 74 km in total.

Things to Know

  • Highly recommended by the Toronto Bicycling Network, this spectacular tourism cycling route gives you a little bit of everything: a great ride, local culture, rolling hills and fabulous views.
  • The eastern portion of the Ramble is the eastern terminus of the Northumberland to Niagara Greenbelt Route.
  • Enjoy incredible Rice Lake vistas from wonderfully quiet roads.
  • Have a picnic at the Gore's Landing dock and gazebo on Rice Lake.
  • Discover Peter's Woods, featuring Ontario's sole-surviving Oak Ridges Moraine "old growth" forest.
  • At Alderville First Nation, purchase aboriginal arts and crafts, or pick up some delicious butter tarts
  • Fill up your bottles with spring water from the Harwood artesian well located at Memorial Park (5453 Front St.).

Are you travelling from Toronto or Montreal? Try VIA Rail's Bike Train. It makes a stop in Cobourg. You can pick up the Ramble route from the Cobourg train station by cycling down George St. to King St. Head east on County Rd 2 (King St. in Cobourg) to pick up the loop from there. Note, this service has been impacted by COVID-19 restrictions. Visit the link above or contact VIA Rail directly to confirm current service.
