Drive into Northumberland's scenic, rolling hills and explore the local culture and heritage, with some hilarious entertainment along the way.
Northumberland's Road Rallies were created to help you explore the county and have fun with your friends and family. You'll need at least one teammate who can be your co-pilot, giving you "turn right" and "turn left" directions. Together, you'll make stops to answer questions referring to specific landmarks.
"These are a really fun way to discover such a beautiful area that we'd probably never otherwise explore," says Christie T who loves to bring her husband along for road rally adventures.
Start by choosing a rally from the list below, print the questions, then get your car
started and your passenger's pen poised. Once you're finished, send an email to info@northumberlandtourism.com with the name of your Road Rally in the subject line.
We'll send you the complete list of answers within 5 business days.
Some enjoy making these rallies a fun competition (especially car clubs) where you can involve as many cars as you like, having them start at 3 minute intervals. The winner will have correct answers and the shortest travel time. All of the rallies start at a large parking area. If you're putting a competition together and would like the answers ahead of time, just email us prior to your travel date at the address indicated above and we'll get the answers off to you within 5 business days.
For an added challenge, you can enhance the competition by having a list of items the participants must collect along the way for extra points i.e. oldest dated nickel, bingo dabber, used ticket stub.
**Northumberland has become a Certified Champlain Route Member and to celebrate this, we've translated the Champlain Road Rally into French for you to enjoy.
Samuel de Champlain Road Rally (74 km) which, when you get the right answers, will include a map of Champlain's journey through Northumberland in 1615.
Please note that road routes may be subject to interruption due to closures, construction and safety hazards. As always, when driving any road, follow Ontario road safety practices. The municipality is not responsible for any unforeseen offense committed by third parties.
