Want to try a County comfort food experience? Local food truck fans have served up these recommendations for you. Check seasonal hours first.

You can find all the food trucks listed below on our convenient Google map.

Pre-Order from an Airstream Kitchen

Timber House

116 Cedardale Rd., Brighton

 (613) 475-3304

Take a drive to Brighton and explore the shores of Lake Ontario. Call one day ahead or pre-order here for Timber House's tasty tacos, honey mustard creations, or even its caramelized bacon cinnamon roll. These fresh fixings all come out of a refurbished 1968 Airstream trailer used as the go-to dining option at Timber House Resort with its waterfront trailer accommodations.

Loads of Choice

Presqu'ile Park Place

250 Presqu'ile Park Way, Brighton

(613) 403-2297

You’ll find lots of roadside treats here. Start at Pollywogs for some hot food (poutine, awesome chicken burgers and more). Then stroll over to the Park Place ice cream trailer. Try a decadent Funnel Cake or pick from more than 20 flavours of Kawartha Dairy ice cream, from Salted Caramel Truffle to Tiger Tail. There’s a nice little bit of green space here with bird feeders and flowers. (If viewing this before your visit, plan to explore Presqu'ile Provincial Park nearby.)

Fired Up and Fabulous

That Little Pub

26 Bridge St. W., Campbellford

(705) 653-0001

If a thin crust pizza is your thing, head to Campbellford. In the back of That Little Pub, you’ll find a stationary food truck. It’s complete with a crackling hardwood fire stoked to 800 degrees Fahrenheit. Unique pizza toppings include figs, blue cheese, fried sage, bacon and San Marzano tomato sauce. Chef and owner Mark, makes the mozzarella himself. He rotates his menu based on seasonality and availability.

Smokehouse Ribs Just Off the 401

The Big Apple

262 Orchard Rd., Colborne

(905) 355-2574

The Big Apple Smokehouse has added two authentic, southern-style BBQ smokers. This smokehouse truck is known for full and half racks of ribs, as well as chicken wings, pulled pork sandwiches, smoked turkey legs, and poutine (there is one that's vegetarian as well as a vegetarian gravy). Enjoy a pulled pork sandwich, a brisket meal with beans and coleslaw, or a smoked chicken wrap.

Picnic and Pulled Pork

McGillicafey’s Street Eating and Catering

13 Bridge St. N., Hastings

(705) 696-3600

Located in downtown Hastings, a short walk to a picnic area, you can enjoy some noted favourites from McGillicafey's Pub and Eatery. Try the Chicken Parmesan Focaccia (with hand-breaded panko chicken breast) or the Gillies Messy Pig Sandwich (with smoked pulled pork tossed in the house maple whisky BBQ sauce). It's easy to order when you don't want to go in to eat.

Caribbean Food to Savour

D's Island Shack

36 Saskatoon Ave., Campbellford

Try out some authentic Trinidadian cooking at D's Island Shack in downtown Campbellford – complete with a view of the Trent-Severn Waterway and an open green space for a picnic. Owner, cook and baker Dawn imports the spices and herbs directly from Trinidad. Chicken roti, jerk chicken, goat roti and stewed pork are more savoury than spicy. Leave room for coconut ice cream, currant rolls or some sugar cake.

Sandwiches and Tacos Done Right

King's Plate

205 King St. E. (beside Rutherford's Farm & Roadside Market), Colborne

(905) 269-4877

This food truck gets rave reviews for its "to-die-for" Cuban and Reuben sandwiches. The crispy fish tacos with red devil sauce, mango salsa, red cabbage, green onion and fried jalapeños get top marks too. It's a spin off from the popular King's Plate Catering service offered by Darren, a George Brown College culinary grad who's also perfected catering moveable feasts such as his special pig roast.

Mexican Taste Bud Dance Party

Rey Rays

145 Rose Glen Rd. S., Port Hope

(289) 691-6669

That's how one fan of this popular, local food truck describes the Mexican salad and other magical specials served up by Rey Rays. This family-run food truck creates authentic Mexican tacos on hand made corn tortillas. The ingredients are fresh, bold and original. Try fried fish tacos paired with a generous, loaded salad. Relax in the picnic area (open, like the food truck, until early Fall).

Deep Fried Cheese Curds and Fries

Piggies

2971 Hwy 28 north at Dale Rd., Port Hope

(905) 376-3847

An easy drive north on Hwy. 28. (just before Dale Rd.) will take you to this local landmark food truck. Paulene and Lee have perfected fresh cut chips. Piggies staff also does some amazing deep fried cheese curds, and pickles for that matter. Their pulled pork poutine is said to take care of most ailments, while both the sausage and grilled bologna on a bun are fun and terrific.

Burgers and Ste. Anne's Buns

Academy Hill Grill

252 Academy Hill Rd., Grafton

(888) 839-1935

This food truck beside Ste. Anne's Bakery excels in fresh buns, plus house made burgers. You'll also discover poutine taken to the next level – for instance, the burnt brisket tip and button mushroom poutine with fresh-cut fries, rich beef gravy and Ontario cheese curds. Stop into Ste. Anne’s Bakery (on site) for a chocolate truffle or award-winning butter tart. The Bakery is gluten-free in all the best ways.

Perfect French Fry Fix

J’s Place Chip Truck

County Road 29 & ON-30, Trent Hills

(905) 872-0199

Located at the Warkworth turn, J's Place is ideal for a french fry craving. Go basic and add your own salt and vinegar – or try the poutine smothered with local Empire cheese curds. The owners, paying tribute to their home province of Newfoundland, offer fries with ham, dressing, cheese and gravy. J's also has great fried onions, made even better on a 7" jumbo beef hot dog.  There are a few picnic tables here.
