Experience Cobourg has planned a series of virtual community events that provide safe and fun activities for the entire family. There will be a Static Santa Claus Parade with floats on display at the north end of Victoria Park, in Rotary Harbourfront Park and at Cobourg Public Library. Floats will begin to move into place on December 4th and then local visitors and residents are invited to drive by and take in the spirit of the holidays. The tradition of Christmas Magic in Victoria Park and Rotary Harbourfront Park are continuing for 2020. Lights are on every evening until January 1st and the display is beautiful. Check out the new festive holiday "skaters" surrounding the rink at Rotary Harbourfront Park, where the rink will be open once temperatures allow.
Organizers of this annual event have found a way to keep visitors safe with socially-distanced viewings on-site. If you're not able to visit in person, there is an interactive component as well that allows guests the ability to enjoy Capitol Christmas from home.
Tour the trees (and check out the theatre renovations) from November 12th to December 18th, take part in Festive Workshops on November 28th & 29th, visit Port Hope homes decorated for the holidays virtually on December 5th, 12th and 19th and enjoy additional festive programming from December 19th to 24th. Keep up to date with the latest at the link below.
The Candlelight Festival is an annual holiday experience that invites you to come and explore the seasonal transformation of downtown Port Hope beginning November 27.
Aligning with the government’s mandate to maintain physical distancing efforts, the 2020 Port Hope Candlelight Festival will be modified to include both virtual and self-guided exploration activities this year. As such, the marketplace is going virtual and the Candlelight Walk and park lighting ceremony have been cancelled. Check the link below for additional information on art installations and other events.
Experience Magic Under the Stars in the charming village of Warkworth. Friday evenings in December many of the shops will be open until 9:00 pm. Since Santa and his reindeer aren’t able to visit this year, he has called on the residents and businesses of Trent Hills to celebrate the holiday season with some extra-special decorating, with prizes awarded for the best displays. His elves will then create a route for you to take a self-guided driving or walking tour in this reverse parade (meaning you do the driving or walking of the route.) It all begins on the usual parade day, Saturday, November 28 at 1 p.m. and continues right up until Christmas.
Our local tree farms are ready for your holiday decorating. Barrett Tree Farm has implemented new COVID-19 policies to ensure your visit is safe, family-friendly, and a whole lot of fun. Schedule your visit in advance and pre-pay on their website.
Visit the farm to have fun with their play structure or see an authentic airplane and Ferguson tractor. Roast marshmallows at one of four campfire pits. Don't forget to give some love to the furry family members on the farm including a donkey, sheep, pot-bellied pig and a pony.
