There is a lot to do in Northumberland County in the Spring. Go for a drive and enjoy the county from the comfort of your car. Keep your eye open for a wide variety of birds, stop to watch fish migrating upstream, and take in the fresh smell of lilacs and apple blossoms blooming. If you're a cyclist, you can go on an adventure and explore our 5 signed cycling routes.

Spring is a popular time at Presqu'ile Provincial Park for birders. In late May, you may get the opportunity to view warblers and whimbrels as they migrate to their summer nesting grounds. For more information on birds, butterflies and more that you may see at Presqu'ile, visit the Friends of Presqu'ile Provincial Park website.

If you're looking for a change of scenery and just want to go for a drive, we've got our Top 5 Road Trips all laid out for you in our online brochure. There's nothing better than a road trip on a sunny day!

Spring is also a time to enjoy seasonal flowers blooming - like lilacs. Although the Warkworth Lilac Festival and the Apple Blossom Tyme Festival are cancelled this year, there are still opportunities to enjoy the Spring blooms. Use our Northumberland Lilac driving tour to create your own personal road trip or take a drive along County Rd 2 past the apple orchards to see apple blossoms. Stop in Colborne or Brighton to shop with local vendors or pick up delicious treats from cafés and restaurants.

Northumberland is a favourite cycling destination. Our signed cycling routes allow you to explore scenic country roads or waterfront trails.

Take a drive to Northumberland County, connect with nature and enjoy all that Spring has to offer.
