Trans Canada Trail (abandoned rail line with dirt path and 1" stone)

Trans Canada Trail at Hoard's Station

Among the many routes you can explore is the Hastings to Campbellford portion of the Trans Canada Trail (not signed). The trail takes you along an abandoned railway line and is perfect for those who prefer a nice, flat ride on a mountain bike or hybrid. You'll enjoy journeying alongside the Trent River, farm and wetlands, and have a chance to talk to a few farmers along the way.

Once in Campbellford you can take a meal break at an assortment of restaurants, then cycle east alongside the Trent-Severn Waterway on the Rotary Trail, pass Locks 12 and 13, thrill by traversing the Ranney Gorge Suspension Bridge, wend your way through Ferris Park (signed) and then resume on the rail line at Burnbrae Road into Hoards Station for a picturesque view of Hoards River. On the weekends, it's rather fun making reservations at Chubby's Restaurant, a former cheese factory, serving home-cooked meals buffet style.
