New to Northumberland is the Greenbelt Route, a fully-signed string of quiet back roads that offer a 480 km cycling route crossing seven regions from Northumberland to Niagara, connecting cyclists to the unforgettable tastes and stunning beauty of our protected countryside.
Challenge yourself with a Century Ride (100 miles) we've assembled. It's a looped 156km ride using some legs of our 5 cycling routes.
If you prefer mountain biking or fat biking (even in winter time), there are 3 areas with forested trails which we've seen avid cyclists tackle, even in the winter months. Ganaraska Forest, Northumberland Forest and Goodrich-Loomis Conservation Area.

A bike rental station is available July and August near the Cobourg Waterfront. The hybrid models and fun cruisers come complete with a helmet and bike lock.
Need roadside assistance as a result of a flat tire or broken chain? In Northumberland, CAA offers its members Bike Assist, a 24 hour bike roadside assistance program which includes towing the bicycle and transporting the cyclist.
Bike Train (VIA Rail) gives you a great opportunity to use the daily Toronto to Montreal run (arrives eastbound Cobourg during the lunch hour) for a lovely hour-long ride along the north shore of Lake Ontario. Once you arrive in Cobourg, the station master will remove your bike from the on-board bike racks and place it right on the platform for you. Take a short cycle down George Street to join up with the new Greenbelt Route, Waterfront Trail, Rice Lake Ramble or Shelter Valley cycling loops all signed for your convenience.
