Fall Flavour Tour

tour along the Trent RiverIf you're looking to feast on the fall bounty, you'll want to travel the Trent Hills Fall Flavour Tour. Start with a free Google map for your smartphone or for printing.

From Hwy. 401, exit 509 near Brighton, take County Road 30 north. Turn west on County Rd. 29 and travel to #14260 and you will find Glover's Farm Market, featuring fresh local produce (you'll be just in time for sweet corn season) and some very yummy homemade pies. Continuing west on County Rd. 29 into the Village of Warkworth you will pass right by Main Street - an opportunity to visit the local artisan studios, shops and eateries like The Supreme Bean where you can purchase Remarkable Raspberry White Chocolate Macadamia scones!

Turn right onto County Rd. 25 and travel several kilometers to County Rd. 24, turn left, heading for Dartford. Turn left on Campbell Road, and you will arrive at Campbell's Honey House where you can enjoy the fruits of the honey bee. Open August 1 - Sept. 30, the kids will enjoy the demonstration hive and a chance to taste-test. A little farther down Campbell Rd is Healey Falls Quarter Horse Farm if you'd like to book a trail ride (705 924-3077).

Return to County Road 25 and continue north, turning right at County Rd. 45 into the Village of Hastings. Hastings is well-known for the fishing spots, and fall is the best time for small-mouth and large-mouth bass fishing. Hastings has the only bridge in Ontario that you can fish from. An overnight stay at Lockside Guest Suite may be in order, you can barbecue your day's catch!

Returning to County Rd. 45 and then left on County Road 25, you are on your way to Campbellford. At County Road 35 you will travel east for several kilometers, then turn right onto County Rd. 30, bringing you to Bridge Street, Campbellford. Go over the bridge, and on the right your sweet tooth will be satisfied at Dooher's Bakery, with delicious pumpkin pies, apple crisp and apple cheddar muffins. If you're feeling hungry head over to Capers Restaurant where you will find a variety of dishes that include seasonal local products.

Turn left at Ranney St., and continue to Front St. Turn right and once again you'll be traveling through the beautiful countryside on County Rd. 38. At Pethericks Corners, you can visit Church-Key Brewing. Their seasonal Ginger and Rosemary Spiced Ale was introduced as an experiment for an Herb Festival, quickly became popular and is now offered seasonally. They have several brands to sample.

Travelling on the weekend? You will want to visit Meyersburg Flea Market, Campbellford Farmers Market and Hastings Market to fill your market basket with fresh local produce. For a complete copy of The Trent Hills Flavour Tour call 888-653-1556.
