Get out and enjoy the signs of spring!

As the snows starts to melt and the lakes and rivers thaw it’s time to Float Your Fanny Down The Ganny in Port Hope!  Watch participants race down the frigid and swift-moving Ganaraska River in canoes, kayaks and crazy crafts.

It’s “Scent of a Lilac” at the Warkworth Lilac Festival where you can view over 50 varieties of lilacs, tour the Millennium Lilac Trail, enjoy live music and so much more. Use our Northumberland Lilac driving tour as your guide to the festival!

Celebrate spring blossoms at the Apple Blossom Festival in Colborne. View a collection of local vendors and food to sample along with motorcycles, vintage cars and tractors on display, a soap box derby race, a midway, baking contests and local apple pie.

Northumberland is well known for live performances including musicals, dramatic and comedic plays plays. Visit the Victoria Hall Concert Hall, this April and watch the VOS Theatre perform the musical, Shrek. The Capitol Theatre welcomes Corm Lund featuring The Strumbellas, a Juno-nominated, six-piece Canadian band, whose music has been described as alternative country, indie rock, and “folk popgrass”. The Brighton Barn Theatre presents The Chalk Garden, an intriguing story of human growth and nurturing that won critical acclaim in the early 60's, including a Tony award in 1964.

Northumberland opens its doors wide and free of charge as it participates in Doors Open Ontario, June 7 & 8. Take guided and self-guided tours of over 20 historic and cultural venues, free of charge. Combine Doors Open with Trails Open and explore the Oak Hills Farm Prairie and Arboretum at Rice Lake.

Northumberland welcomes you to come out and enjoy spring with us!
