Celebrate the winter season in Northumberland County at one of many festivals, events and performances. Warm up in Cobourg at the Savoury Celebrations or at Port Hope's Delectable Winter Meal Deals and experience a live performance at one of our theatre venues. A scrumptious dinner theatre at the Best Western with the Northumberland Players will leave you filled with laughter!
Enjoy the outdoors at the Campbellford's Polar Bear Festival which includes a polar bear dip and a Chocolate and Cheese Festival all in the same day! Come February, the winter is still in full force, so why not get outside for some wintry family fun? No need to hole up indoors during the Cobourg Winter Festivities, each weekend in February leading up to the Family Day Weekend. There are ice sculpture and lumberjack demonstrations, games and outdoor skating. Follow it up with hot chocolate or a hot toddy at a cafe - goodbye winter blues.
Family Day Weekend (February 18-20) brings us Family Fishing Weekend, fish license free on Rice Lake or anywhere south of the CN bridges in Northumberland!
March break brings county adventure with the Warkworth Maple Syrup Festival March 10, 11 which takes you down in a valley, dominated by tall maples where you can power up on pancakes and take horse-drawn sleigh rides through the forest. Then on March 17, 18 Presqu'ile Provincial Park in Brighton hosts waterfowl viewing during the spring migration and aptly called Waterfowl Weekend. View over 25 different species of ducks, geese, and swans then head on down to the Lighthouse Interpretive Centre for kids' activities.
The Ganaraska Forest also offers fun family adventures in March with the Maple Syrup Day and the ever so popular Owl Prowl (registration required).
