Come and enjoy fall with us.
Kicking off Labour Day weekend is the famous Shelter Valley Folk Festival. A music filled, family weekend including arts, fine foods, wellness, and sustainable living. Learn about monarchs and migrant birds on the same weekend at Presqu’ile Provincial Park during Monarchs and Migrants Weekend. This event includes bird banding, monarch tagging and guided nature walks during fall migration. Following Labour Day weekend is the All Canadian Jazz Festival in historic Port Hope which boasts some the most talented Canadian musicians!
Experience tradition and attend one of Northumberland’s historic fall fairs in Port Hope, Roseneath and Warkworth! Every Saturday you can taste Northumberland's fresh produce at Farmers' Markets in Cobourg, Port Hope, Hastings, Campbellford and Brighton.
Another way to celebrate harvest season is attending Brighton’s Applefest, the last weekend of September. Events include live entertainment, children’s activities, arts and crafts and the famous apple parade; and of course a large abundance of fresh local apples ready to purchase.
Are you looking for a guided hike? September offers a few in Brighton at Proctor Park and in Presqu’ile Provincial Park. The Ganaraska Forest has two with one centred around Hallowe’en featuring a night hike. Attend the Alderville Black Oak Savanna on Prairie Day and take a guided hike through the tall grass prairie.
If the weather is looking a little dicey, come on inside for a dinner/theatre performance or a concert.
