Trent Hills

Trent Hills offers country living with working farms, friendly people, outdoor adventures and some of the most picturesque rural landscapes in Ontario. The key communities in Trent Hills are Campbellford, Hastings, and Warkworth all offering their own unique experiences. Campbellford is the largest community in the municipality and has a number of eclectic tourist attractions, including a statue of the Canadian Toonie (the unofficial name for Canada's two-dollar coin, which was designed by local artist, Brent Townsend), Memorial Military Museum, Campbellford Fair and Chrome on the Canal (antique motorbike and car show). Campbellford is also known for its great shopping and eateries, including Empire Cheese, World's Finest Chocolates, Dooher's Bakery, and the Stinking Rose Pub where you are served beer from another local business, Church-Key Brewing. Trent Hills has recently re-opened the Crowe Bridge Park northeast of Campbellford on the Crowe River as it enters the Trent-Severn Waterway. Limestone lines the river and the water gently falls over the stones so you can wade in the cool water or have a picnic alongside the falls with the natural limestone setting.

Hastings is known as "The Hub of the Trent" as is sits directly on the Trent River and is the gateway to Rice Lake. The Hastings Village Marina has a waterfront deck where you can ponder the great steamships that once travelled to Hastings. View the first dam ever built on the Trent in 1844, or marvel at the highest velocity of water shooting through the dam chutes as anglers compete for trophy fish from the bridge. Shopping and dining in Hastings is easily found with many local artists and farmers making their products available locally through farm stores and farmers markets. Living on the 100-mile diet is easy in Hastings and the benefits of buying locally certainly tastes sweet!

Whether your passion is gardening, hiking, or shopping in a small village then Warkworth is a good choice. Music and art lovers will enjoy the Warkworth Garden Tour which features local artisits and beautiful gardens. Surrounded by picturesque rolling hills and beautiful farm lands, Warkworth is a blend of a friendly country village and uptown style. A hearty festival you should be sure not miss is the Warkworth Long Lunch, where annually in August the main street is blocked off and tables are stretched out to accommodate the hundreds who will gather so that the community can celebrate and enjoy the bounty of the region. The Warkworth Long Lunch is also a way to celebrate the culture of the region and have a summer party to share each other's company across the table.
